Atkins Diet Introduction is also known as the ‘Kick Start’ stage. In this stage, the diet chart of the person following the diet is prepared which includes optimum levels of carbohydrates, vitamins, calcium, proteins, potassium as well as fats. This diet helps the person to get a feel of what diet they have to have on a regular basis, hence is also called the introductory phase. This Phase is not put forwarded on the people too harshly. In this level the fat burning level starts in the body. This phase is usually followed for two weeks, however, if the person in this level has too much of extra weight to lose, they may also consider extending the time period as required. Atkins diet program for losing weight is build in 4 phases namely, induction, balancing, pre-maintenance (Fine tuning) and Lifetime maintenance.
Just the way a baby cannot start running before they start walking, similarly, a person cannot start phase 2 or others before they follow phase 1 i.e. the induction phase. It is this phase where a person tends to lose significant weight (commonly 5 pounds to 10 pounds in a week); however, they may not succeed in losing inches or reach their goal weight. In the Atkins Diet Induction stage the person is restricted from taking any amount of alcohol or beer. They may have deserts if the same is within the upper limit of carbohydrates that they are advised to take. Further, since this is the phase where the person starts losing weight for the first time, at times this may also lead to headaches or dehydration. One should have at least 8 ounce of water and optimum level of all vitamins, proteins etc to avoid such a situation. Further, one should also take proper care of its sugar level in this stage.
Initially, before starting the Atkins Diet Induction, human body primarily burns carbohydrates, this stage concentrates on shifting the body to burn fats rather than carbohydrates so that weight loss can be initiated. This stage helps the common man to understand the level of carbohydrates that he or she should intake so that they can remain fit. This phase can also be called the self realization stage & is one of the essential Phases to be followed.
When a person is in the Phase of Atkins Diet Induction, he or she should avoid skipping meals as well as eating seeds or eating nuts. The carbohydrates that one needs to count for its carbohydrates allotment per day in this Phase are Digestible Carbohydrates only. We also find Fiber Carbohydrates in our food, which need not be considered as it has nil effect on the insulin levels of the people. If you are not being able to motivate yourself to follow the Induction Phase alone, get a friend or a family member along to follow the same. This will help both of you to complete the task together.
